Rapper Half Ounce killed in drive-by

Das Bild zeigt den Rapper Half Ounce in der Hocke auf einem Parkplatz. Er trägt ein weißes Tanktop und ein schwarzes Basecap. Der Himmel ist blau.

Rappers are repeatedly the target of deadly attacks through their connections to gangs. Los Angeles leads the sad list of cities with the most murders of rappers. Not even in Chicago—the city with the highest overall homicide rate in the United States—are more rappers killed by gang violence. Half Ounce became the third artist to become a victim of gun violence in Los Angeles County in the past month. Another young rapper named Kee Riches was also reportedly shot dead in Compton in late September. PnB Rock was gunned down on September 12 while dining with his girlfriend at Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles in South Los Angeles.

Rapper Half Ounce dies after drive-by

The fatal shooting of up and coming Inglewood rapper, whose real name is Latauriisha O'Brien, occurred on Monday (October 3) around 11:30 p.m. in the 8th Street New Hampshire area, according to Fox 11 Los Angeles. According to investigators, Half Ounce was driving home with a friend when a dark-colored SUV pulled up and opened fire on both men. The rapper's boyfriend reportedly fled the scene. The police are currently trying to locate him and are looking for the shooter, who is currently unknown. It is unclear whether the rapper's friend returned fire at the attackers. Half Ounce was found dead by Los Angeles police, who said he was on the phone with his pregnant wife when the shots rang out.

Ice-T sees no hope for L.A.

As the rap world mourns the untimely loss of Rock, Ice-T reiterated that LA's gang culture "isn't a game." "I'm done explaining LA gang culture," he tweeted. “MFs will not listen. It's not a game at all.” Los Angeles is considered the birthplace of gang culture in the United States. The Crips and Bloods founded there are already fighting each other in the 4th generation. While in the past there was something like “order” about a strict hyrachia, which anticipated a complete escalation of gang wars, today almost every block of flats has its own gang that only feels bound by its own rules. Gang culture has now spread throughout the United States and is penetrating rap culture more than ever. We wish the survivors of Half Ounce a lot of strength during this difficult time for them. he leaves behind a wife and three children: a 9-month-old son, a 2-year-old son and an 8-year-old daughter. R.I.P. half ounces.
