An important achievement of our time is that women who find themselves subjected to sexual assault are now given a wide hearing and that perpetrators can no longer get away so easily. No one is too big to fall today. The cases of Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby and R. Kelly have caused international outrage. Courts imposed long prison sentences on the perpetrators. The same thing happened to actor and rapper Kaalan Walker. The series star turned out to be a serial rapist and is now behind bars for 50 years.

50 years in prison for Kaalan Walker

Kaalan Walker, the rapper and actor best known for his role on Superfly, has been sentenced to 50 years for raping multiple women, according to the Los Angeles Times. Walker, 27, was found guilty in April of raping seven women, including three minors. He was convicted of triple violent rape, double rape and double narcotic rape. The Los Angeles native, who goes by the nickname "KR," is now officially a registered sex offender.

A shabby tour

Kaalan Walker's alleged crimes took place between 2013 and 2018. He used social media to contact his victims - all aspiring models and actresses - and lure them with false promises. Walker made the women and girls think he wanted to book them for a music video or photo shoot or that he could introduce them to someone as famous as Drake. When they were alone, he sexually assaulted them. "We believe the jury gave back their votes to these victims with this verdict," Assistant District Attorney Cynthia Wallace said after his sentencing.

meekly in court

In court, the otherwise self-confident rapper and actor was meek. Walker reportedly broke down in tears as the Los Angeles jury's verdict was read to him. "I have not raped anyone, Your Honor!" he cried as he was taken away in handcuffs. "I have not raped anyone." Walker's lawyer claimed his client "did not force" the women and girls to do anything sexual with him. This obviously did not convince the judge. Let's see if his fellow inmates buy this story.
